Further Jobs At Bronglais Not At Risk Say Health Board
After the recent and disgraceful closure of the Afallon mental health ward at Bronglais Hospital the rumour mill swung into action with stories going round of a further two planned ward closures and up to 200 job losses.
However Hywel Dda health board have insisted that both the Rheidol and Enlli wards at Bronglais hospital in Aberystwyth will remain open and that the hear say and rumour is just that and nothing more.
However the hospital’s Rheidol ward is currently being developed to turn it into a surgical short stay ward which also deals in gynaecology.
The board insists that it is currently working with staff to determine their preferences in terms of redeployment to other wards or deployment to the new Rheidol ward facility upon completion.
Any further reductions to the range of services available at our local hospital which is the only large hosiptal in the Mid Wales area would not only be a risk and a blow to local residents but would also bring shame on a board of trustees which is supposed to have the best interests of the local community at the heart of its everyday duties and responsibilites so let’s just hope that this is purely gossip.
