Aberaeron
Aberaeron is a regency style seaside resort, 16 miles south of Aberystwyth.
Built in 1805 by Reverend Alban Thomas Jones, the town is nestled around the River Aeron estuary, and features a wonderful harbour which was designed for recreational boats
With strong ties to the area, the Dylan Thomas trail also runs through Aberaeron
In the 1890s a cable car was in operation to ferry people across the harbour. The Aeron Express, as it was known, was built due to storms demolishing the original harbour bridge. At the end of the 1980s the Aeron Express was rebuilt as a tourist attraction, which then closed in 1994.
Aberaeron cannot be reached by rail. However, for information on how to reach Aberaeron by bus from Aberystwyth, please click here.
