Drug Gangs Target Aberystwyth
A new book looking into the violent gangs of Britain says Aberystwyth is a prime target for drugs.
Drugs gangs from Merseyside and the West Midlands see the town as an easy target due to smaller police forces and better prices for their narcotics.
This is a worrying new development for the residents of the town.
In an exclusive interview in the book with an ex drug dealer, he confirms that the town is one of the ‘in places’ for drugs gangs.
This was backed up by a statement from the local courts and police force, who agreed that there has been a rise in the number of gangs targetting West Wales and Aberystwyth in particular.
One of the main reasons for this shift to the west coast is seen as the lack of man power within the Dyfed Powys police. Previously these gangs had been targetting other areas such as rural Scotland.
